Food Bank Ministry

Peace Lutheran Church supports these organizations with food donations, volunteers, and special fundraising activities:
West Seattle Food Bank
White Center Food Bank,
The Welcome Table on Saturdays at the Body of Christ church in White Center

Items for Food Banks may be placed in the designated drawer in the Narthex, any time of any month. Items for the Welcome Table may be brought forward on the first Sunday of each month during communion.

Reminder about Food Donations: The White Center Food Bank does not accept foods that are more than a year old and foods that are not readily identifiable, such as rare gourmet items. Kid-friendly food donations are very welcome. Both the White Center Food Bank and West Seattle Food Bank continue to see increasing need in our community.

The Welcome Table is held on Saturdays, 11-12:30, at the Body of Christ Church White Center, between 14th and 15th Ave SW on SW 102nd. You are invited to deliver donations there directly, or you may bring your food donations to Peace services on the 1st Sunday of the month, as mentioned above.

Welcome Table Urgent Request – Men’s Work Clothing Urgently Needed– new socks and underwear, used-but-still-wearable work pants, shirts, sweatshirts and jackets–for guests of the Welcome Table. This is a HUGE, ongoing need for hard-working guests struggling to provide for themselves and their families. Can you help? Questions? You may either bring items to the Welcome Table on Saturdays, 11-12:30, or contact Boots Winterstein for pickup and delivery

Thriftway grocery receipts that are collected yield a cash donation to the West Seattle Food Bank. Food donations that are collected in the drawer in the Narthex go to each food bank on a rotating basis.  Volunteer opportunities exist at all three sites.
