Sermon Title: Getting to YES

(Mark 1:9-15)

Rev. Erik Kindem, February 26, 2012

Quick Summary:

On the final Sunday of four under the stewardship focus, WE SAY YES, this sermon speaks about God's YES to us, which comes before our Yes, and indeed, is even given to us when we say NO.
Jesus spends 40 days saying YES to God and NO to anything that is not of God. He enters the wilderness place "without or beyond words" and comes out the other side with a good news message. When we experience desert places in our lives, we are companioned by the one who has been to that place where words don't work anymore, and has come out of it with this Good News embedded within him: that God is in our midst and on our side come hell or high water—forever and for good.
