Quick Summary:
As we re-imagine our place as creatures made in the image of God and related intricately and intimately to the rest of creation, we ask: What does that mean for how we understand our human vocation to be earthkeepers?
Hubris is that which keeps us separated from claiming kinship with the rest of Earth's creatures. West Seattle author Lyanda Haupt says: "We are being called upon to act against a prevailing culture, to undermine our own entrenched tendency to accumulate and to consume, and to refuse to define our individuality by our presumed ability to do whatever we want.β
Jesus calls us to strive for the realm whose impulses are opposite to that of hubris; to move beyond βMEβ to what the St. Paul calls "a new creation."
