Quick Summary:
On his way to Jerusalem and all that awaits him there, Jesus travels through a "no-man's-land" between Galilee and Samaria where he meets ten lepers, calling for mercy. Jesus sends them on their way and they are healed. One of them, a Samaritan, upon seeing what has happened to himself, turns around, and comes back to Jesus. Throwing himself at Jesus' feet with joyful abandon he praises God. To this one Jesus says: GET UP AND GO ON YOUR WAY, YOUR FAITH HAS MADE YOU WELL, MADE YOU WHOLE—SAVED YOU.
Martin Luther was once asked to describe the nature of true worship. His answer? "The Tenth leper turning back." Ten are cured; but one receives the full measure of Christ’s gift, because he caught on to something that had eluded the others: He caught on to gratitude.
