Sermon Title: Facing the Truth

(Mark 4:37-41)

Rev. Erik Kindem, February 20, 2011

Quick Summary:

When the wind and the waves blow into our lives with force and fury, how can we survive? It’s really a question about what we can expect from this God in the face of circumstances in our lives that threaten to send us reeling into the abyss.

Acting from that centered place of calm and confidence and faith, Jesus becomes the eye of the storm for us, giving us two things.
• First, he demonstrates the power of God at work within him.
• Secondly, he shows his commitment to accompany us through whatever circumstances we face, no matter how perilous.

WHY ARE YOU AFRAID? Jesus asks. DID YOU THINK I WOULD ABANDON YOU? LET ME MAKE IT SIMPLE: I’M IN THIS FOR THE LONG HAUL. WE’RE IN THIS BOAT TOGETHER.
