Grounded in the grace of God our congregation is committed to seeking and welcoming diversity of all kinds. Building on our roots as a neighborhood church, we reach beyond our geographic boundaries to the larger community. Celebrating God’s amazing grace in Jesus and growing in faith, fellowship, and service are core values for our congregation.
In 2007, a Vision Task Force gathered the history, values, commitments, and character of our congregation and distilled them into four pillar statements.
FOUR PILLARS
Who We Are
We are a prayerful, caring, and intergenerational congregation. We have experienced the liberating love of Christ and seek to make that love real in West Seattle and in the neighborhoods where we live. The Holy Spirit empowers and guides us as we discern and pursue God’s mission. In this we are a congregation gifted with talented, capable, and committed servants and leaders.
Our Worship Life
Worship is at the center of our life together. Our faith is grounded in the God of grace who meets us in Word and Sacrament. We honor the liturgy, music, and preaching of our heritage. These continue to inform and animate the life we share in the risen Christ.
Our Journey of Faith
We acknowledge the struggles that have been part of our varied experiences in the congregations of which we have been a part. We need each other! We are committed to a life together that builds trust, faith, and confidence in our common mission, and that values the differences among us. We seek to be faithful followers of Jesus as we mentor each other in this lifelong journey of faith.
Called Into the World
The Gospel calls us into the world. Our greatest challenge is to reach beyond ourselves. To do this we will become an inclusive community with deliberate outreach in both evangelism and service in the diverse populations of our neighborhoods.
